I [had] just released my debut solo album called Dank -- Cooking the Books.
The album is almost a mix of genres which glides across the spectrum from new school swing to head bob hip hop stuff with squelchy old analogue bass to down tempo eclectic stuff. It took me about a year and a half to make.
Before this album i put out a demo album called The Dank Mr Wilson--Shaping Plastic where i was working on tracks with Simon Wilson a great producer/vocalist. We only made about 20 copies but some how this album has spread on the underground all the way from Cape Town to East London/Joburg/Pretoria and even London - wierd. So hopefully this one gets out there and far away.
My main influences on the album are Danny Breaks, Sibot, Marcus Wormstorm, Mr Oizo, Shaddow, Old Ninja Tunes stuff, lots of old blues and swing: there are so many influences in my music i could go on forever. My personal favourite track on the album is Lemon Zestpool. The bass on this track is the bass i have been searching for for years. You may call me a bit of a bass junkie.
My main interests are old vintage analogue synths and keyboards, music of course, Djing and fish - wierd huh?
Anyways, i hope you give the album a chance. Who knows? It might grow on you! and hey, always support local music - there are so many sick producers out there who need to get their stuff out so i encourage all you dudes to try. Peace
